About This Place

Han Il Kwan (한일관) is a standout Korean restaurant nestled in the vibrant heart of Doraville, GA, on Buford Hwy NE. This gem offers a richly traditional Korean dining experience with a special emphasis on high-quality barbecue cooked over hot charcoal, delivering authentic flavors that resonate with both longtime enthusiasts and newcomers to Korean cuisine.

From the moment you enter, you’re embraced by a warm, unpretentious ambiance that emphasizes comfort and familiarity over pretension. The staff here are not just servers—they’re knowledgeable guides eager to walk you through the expansive menu, ensuring each dish you try offers its fullest expression.

Han Il Kwan’s menu bursts with an enticing array of Korean classics. For those craving sizzling barbecue, the Yangnyeom Galbi Marinated Beef Short Rib and Bulgogi Box deliver tender, juicy meats with a perfect balance of seasoning and smokiness, cooked flawlessly by the attentive staff so diners can sit back and savor every bite without worry. The Ssambap for 2 showcases a beautiful harmony of fresh leafy wraps layered with savory fillings, an interactive and delicious way to enjoy Korean dining.

Vegetable lovers will appreciate the vibrancy of the Vegetable Dolplate Bibimbap, a medley of textures and tastes artfully presented in a steaming stone bowl, while the Haemul-Pajeon K-Style Seafood Pancake offers crispy, flavorful seafood bites enveloped in a perfectly fried, slightly chewy pancake. For an added layer of comfort, dishes like the Spicy Soft Tofu Stew (La Galbi Sundubu) warm the soul with their rich, spicy broth and tender tofu.

Han Il Kwan also excels with its diverse bibim bop options—from classic Dolsot variations such as Kimchi, Squid, Seafood, and Bulgogi to refreshing chilled buckwheat noodle soup and various banchan (side dishes) that pop with authentic Korean flavors. Grilled fish lovers will find delights in the Godeungeo Gui or Yeoneo Gui served alongside traditional Doenjang Jjigae, creating a meal that feels both rustic and refined.

Guests consistently praise the outstanding quality of the meat and the seamless service. As one diner reflected, the beef cuts are “flavorful, tender, and juicy, with the perfect balance of chewiness and taste,” all meticulously grilled to perfection by staff so you can simply indulge. The “rich, well-balanced” army stew also stands out as a luxurious comfort dish, perfect for sharing with family and friends.

The pricing sits on the higher end for Korean BBQ in the area, but most patrons agree the exceptional quality and generous portions justify every cent spent. Those seeking a more abundant experience can look forward to the all-you-can-eat option, highly recommended for weekday visits to avoid crowds and enjoy their famous beef ribs and pork belly at leisure.

Han Il Kwan is more than just a restaurant—it’s a heartfelt celebration of Korean culinary tradition right in Atlanta’s diverse food scene. Whether you’re craving expertly grilled galbi or vibrant bibimbap, this Doraville staple promises a memorable meal made better by genuine service and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

I recently visited this restaurant with my family and had a truly enjoyable dining experience. We ordered several dishes, including the beef, galbi, and samgyopsal. Each cut of meat was flavorful, tender, and juicy, with the perfect balance of chewiness and taste. The quality and preparation of the meat were impressive, and everything was cooked to perfection. What stood out just as much as the main dishes was the selection of banchan (Korean side dishes). Every item was delicious, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. My family and I enjoyed them so much that we ended up requesting multiple refills — they were simply that good! The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and authentic, giving off a cozy and genuinely Korean vibe. The interior was fairly clean and well-maintained, which added to our comfort during the meal. The restroom could use a bit more attention in terms of cleanliness, but it did not take away significantly from the overall experience. Overall, we had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for high-quality Korean BBQ and a welcoming environment. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

On the pricier side for KBBQ but very good quality meats. We didn’t have to do the cooking so everything was cooked perfectly.

Meat/Rice/Small dishes were really good! Service also nice:) I will come next time for all you can eat, particularly commend "beef rib", pork belly are awesome as well. The average price is 65 per person, we all feel super super full!!!! My friend and me are all enjoy the delicacy tonight. (Oh I will recommend eating at week day, and maybe go earlier...if too many people, they might prepare the food slowly...but they are so fast in the beginning...Overall, I still recommend

A gem on Buford Hwy. Han Il Kwan offers traditional Korean cuisine, along with coal barbecue. The menu is extensive, and the taste has been consistent. The portions are generous as well. The ambiance is not fancy. It has more of a warm familiarity. The staff is welcoming and happy to explain any of the cuisines.

We tried the army stew at Han Il Kwan, and it was honestly one of the best in town. The flavors were rich, well-balanced, and exactly what you’d hope for from a comforting Korean dish. The portion size was very generous, easily enough to satisfy three to four people, making it a great choice for sharing with family or friends. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. While the interior of the restaurant feels a bit old-fashioned, it is well maintained and very clean, which shows they care about keeping the space inviting. The traditional vibe also gives it a bit of character and makes you feel like you’re stepping into a true Korean dining spot. Overall, Han Il Kwan delivered a wonderful dining experience. Between the quality of the food, the portion sizes, and the attentive service, it’s a place I would happily recommend and one I’ll definitely return to again.

We went in as a group of 4 and ended up ordering ribeye, fried rice, shrimp, Korean pancake, and a soup which were all extremely delicious but the Korean pancake especially. They've got a nice selection of dishes but I would recommend coming with another person or a group as the prices are more expensive but the portion is also bigger so it'd be hard for a single person to eat. After you order you get these small dishes that contain kimchi, spicy cucumber, fish cakes, mixed vegetables, and a larger plate of greens. I was surprised by how quiet the restaurant was even though there was multiple tables packed up. We had some questions for our server and he was very patient and explained very thoroughly. He also said if you get something that needs grilling and the restaurant isn't super busy your server will grill for you but if the restaurant is busy you can do it yourself. Overall, great place for family or friend get together and there's also a karaoke store 2 mins away if you're into that after eating Korean.
